What began with a grassroots idea to merge athletes, art, music, and mountains in 2002 has now become one of the best all-around mountain experiences available anywhere in the world: The GoPro Mountain Games.

The 2016 GoPro Mountain Games may have been one of the most sensational, active, exciting and entertaining summer weekends Vail has ever known. More than 3,300 athletes signed up and took part. More than 67,000 people (and a whole lot of dogs) watched the action and strolled through the streets. The rivers were running high, the sun was shining, and ‘pros and joes’ competed side by side in more than 30 separate events.

Big names in outdoor and adventure sports, like Rush Sturges, Izzi Gomes, Mike Tavares, Chuck Patterson, and the Jackson family of kayakers are already circling their calendars for 2017 June 8-11: More concerts at the Gerald R. Ford Amphitheater, a souped-up Ultimate Mountain Challenge, and a few eye-opening new events are on the slate for the 16th year of the GoPro Mountain Games.

Registration opens in February. For more information about this event or to register please visit the GoPro Mountain Games website.
