Fishing in the Vail Valley

Eagle County has some of the best fishing and fly fishing in the state. From the Eagle River to Sylvan Lake, there is plenty of room for all those who want some quiet time spinning their reels.

The Eagle River is open all year. Trout, including Rainbow, Browns, Brook, and Cutthroat as well as Mountain Whitefish, which can grow from 8 to 12 inches, all live in the water of the Eagle River. A freestone stream, the river is diverse and offers pockets, runs, and riffles for the fisherman. There are access points all along US Highway 6 by which you can get to the river and its many turns and pools. Nearly the entire length of the river is fishable year round.
